I look at homes on Zillow every day. Every. Day.
It doesn’t help that I get no less than one million emails from Zillow to prompt me to go look at one more house in the area… I can’t help it. It’s an addiction and Zillow is to blame. Sometimes I’m delighted by the houses and sometimes I’m depressed by them… and since this little gem was a delight, I thought I’d share.
This house is in close proximity to my old house, an area I love here in Lake Arrowhead, and also kind of close to the house my parents recently bought and are renovating. I was drawn to this kitchen because it’s very similar to the original design of the house we’re working on as well as the direction of the design for the renovation.
At first glance, I thought this all white kitchen had a dark navy backsplash, but upon further inspection realized that it was the original wood paneled walls simply painted in a dark navy and I just LOVE the way it turned out.
We are also working with old paneled walls that are exactly the same, however, the paneling was already tiled over and therefore not in the best condition when it was removed and so the the best option was just to tile back over it… However, I am LOVING this dark painted option.
I wanted to take the quartz countertops all the way up the wall to the bottom of the cabinets, but it was way out of budget so we decided on subway tiling as a second option. And as much as I think the dark contrast is beautiful, I didn’t want anything to pull direct focus in the kitchen I helped remodel since it is part of the living room as well. Even though darker/warmer kitchens are trending over white ones at this point, I still think a white kitchen looks so fresh and clean, especially in the smaller/dark space we were working with. Hopefully I can show you final photos of that house very soon.
Also, as cute as it is, the kitchen is TINY. This house is a perfect part time house.
I have to say I LOVE the styling of this house… I wondered if it was simply staged and did a little investigating and read that South Harlow designer Erika Gervin decorated the house and it comes fully furnished. Normally this is not an incentive for me, as not often do you find beautifully styled homes, but in this case, I would literally buy it as is and just move right in.
The only thing that would honestly stop me from buying this house (as a Lake Arrowhead full-time/local) is the lack of garage and level entry. The driveway and stairs would be a nightmare in daily winter living in the snow. But as a part-timer or second house, this is top notch 🙂

I love that this house has a (possible) master on the main level… I don’t love that it only has two bathrooms.
This loft/bunk bed situation is adorable!
Happy Sunday Lovecats!
