It’s finally October! …and to kick off the festivities, I’m posting the first of my top ten Halloween costumes.
I totally rocked 80’s Madonna and luckily, my friend Erik Hyler {who just so happens to be a freaking amazing photographer} was there to snap some radical shots. {I only wish I had more!}

I am not embarrassed to say that I did not need to buy a single item for this costume.. yep, I had it all ..even down to that lace glove, which I kept from the 80’s {and still have!}. I only wish I had a full-length shot because I was wearing an awesome mini crinoline, ripped stockings, ruffle socks and ankle boots.

I’ve always been a fan of dressing up and DIY-ing my own costumes instead of buying them. It started with my mom who would hand make them all for me as a kid. Throughout the month of October, I’ll be posting the rest of my top 10 {from various ages} for your viewing pleasure. …not that they are super original or anything, but if you get some ideas over here, please be kind and mention me as your inspiration ~ 🙂

You look so awesome, I love Madonna, and Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday. Just fun with no expectations that the other holidays hold. I cannot wait. :))

I LOVE that you didn’t need to buy anything for that costume. I especially like the gloves. I was going to a dance a few years ago and I really wanted lace gloves like that and I couldn’t find them anywhere. And a few weeks ago I saw some in “Hot Topic”. My oh my how the 80s are back.
Sarah
my mom always made costumes too. something about that, i absolutely cannot buy a costume now. plus all the store costumes are a slutty this or a slutty that. so uncreative!

Just wanted to let you know…I almost didn’t finish my costume, because I found yours on a Google search and then got addicted to your blog, which I have yet to put a serious dent in. Anyway, I was preparing for an 80’s costume contest at Hollywood Slots and Casino, in Bangor, ME, last week, New Year’s Eve. Well, I was one of the five winners! We had a lot of fun, and my husband was so proud, and I think a little turned on, ha ha! So, today, I was looking for leather bracelet ideas on Google image, and there you are again, or at least your hand! Long story short, I love your style, your story, and your attitude. Keep it up! You light up my life! PS you can check out my costume on fb, if you like. I too didn’t get a full body shot. You can’t see my (repurposed sweater sleeve)leg warmers and canvas sneakers.
