totally irreverent …sorry mom 😉
What I’m Wearing …my easy go-to leggings/jacket combo + new tunic & shoes
* Geren Ford polka dotted tunic dress from GILT ….very open on the sides but has a fitted black top underneath
* American Apparel black shiny lamé leggings …last seen here
* Favorite black vintage little blazer/jacket, Bill Kaiserman …last seen here with my DIY Prada Chandelier necklace …a most favorite since my DIY Petal Louboutins
* Pierre Hardy platform maryjane My first time wearing these out of the house and they are RIDICULOUS TO WALK IN!!! …not because of the heel height, although it doesn’t help, but the platform base/sole under the ball of my foot and toes is TINY {see pic above} SO TINY YOU FALL FORWARD AND SIDEWAYS on it ..but by the end of the day I was wobbling less, I must admit. Drollgirl was laughing at me at the gallery …considering I wear heels daily and have no problem in them, when she first saw me stumble, she thought I was faking it …had to prove I wasn’t by actually falling 😉
* black Salvatore Ferragamo bag
* Tom Ford cat-eye sunglasses
* Very vintage, in fact antique, Rosary Beads …I love the blue stones & the tarnished chain & casing which look like little hearts. …They were my great grandma’s and I just realized today the insanely crazy {& half rubbed off but legible in real life} saying on the back of the crucifix which kind of blows my mind because technically, if you’re Catholic {I was raised Catholic but am no longer}, you are not supposed to wear Rosary Beads as necklaces unless maybe you are a nun and using them for prayer and not for fashion or under your clothes close to your heart …so I’m guessing these belonged to a nun before they were my G grandma’s? …My mom talks of priests just hanging around gatherings and such when she was a kid though but really, what could a priest do in case of an accident? Shouldn’t it have a doctor or physician’s name/number on it? I dunno, but I thought it bizarre when I noticed it today.

“I am Catholic -In case of an accident- Notify a Priest“

Iva
you’ll “master” walking in them. not mater. Geez. and I reread it…or I though I did before submitting.
Lorena
I guess that it says to call a priest in case of an accident because – if the accident is really bad and you are almost dying they can give the last sacrament of extreme unction.
Deborah
OMG those shoes! All your shoes kill me, but those are insane!
I’m just a jealous girl.

Those shoes are made for walking from your car port to your limo, into the restuarant or bar, back to the limo, and straight to bed. Love them!
Maybe it says that on the rosary so the person could get a quickie last rights?
Little Gray Pixel
I was gonna say, if you can walk easily in those shoes you are a goddess! They are super cool, but I don’t think I could even hobble from my front door to my car without spraining both ankles. Kudos to you for making it the whole day!

Those shoes are amazing, and I love that tunic. The rosary is too funny. It reminds me of an episode in high school:
I went to a Catholic school even though I am not Catholic. Anyway, one day in class, a kid started having a seizure. The teacher backed away, and then stated, “Maybe someone should go get the priest.” I was thinking to myself, “Okay, lady, the kid is not possessed. He’s having a seizure. 911 or even the NURSE would be more appropriate…” I forget what happened after that.

THOSE SHOES! THOSE SHOES! THOSE SHOES!
totally worth the risk of falling 😉
kristent1
The outfit is fab as usual. The inscription on the back of the rosary beads is so the person could have what used to be referred to as “last rights”. But is actually the sacrament of annointing of the sick. It cannot be administered after the person has passed and is quite important to some practicing catholics. So yeah, one doesn’t need a priest if you like fall of a bike or something.

I’m catholic and I think that’s on there so the priest can give you your last rites, I’m not sure though.

lOve the combo, I have always wondered when walking through and an old graveyard near my home about the nuns. They are buried as sister mary, sister theresa, but that is their church name not their given names. No last name is shows. Yet the priests grave stones read, Father William Smith. Sad but true reflection of the status of women who give their lives to god.

I have a couple different cross necklaces that have the same inscription on them from my mom. Although Catholics are not supposed to wear rosaries around their necks, my grandmother almost always had a rosary in her pocket or purse. As other posters have said, it’s for anointing of the sick or last rites, both of which are very important sacraments to Catholics. It was just the norm for the time.
