I’m kind of lazy when it comes to food and cooking, which is generally why I leave the recipes to Laney, but I do love a juicy and delicious grilled cheese sandwich every now and again, and with Sargento Cheese, I’m giving you my secret to my favorite way to make a quick, easy AND DELICIOUS grilled cheese sandwich.

The key to the best grilled cheese, in my opinion, is using two different kinds of cheese, and apples, for the perfect combination of salty and sweet!

I like to start with my organic Good Seed bread for extra nutrients, but if I have a thick sourdough loaf in my cupboard, that’s my first choice.

I’ve made my favorite grilled cheese on the stovetop in a pan, but when I want a quick and easy solution, I use my toaster oven, and sometimes, it turns out even better!

First, I toast my bread slightly and then butter my toast to add a little extra flavor. I then add four slices of Sargento Sliced Provolone Cheese and pop it back in the toaster oven until the cheese is melted.

Next I add my thin apple slices and top them with a little Sargento Traditional Cut Shredded Mozzerella cheese, to add more flavor and to help the apple slices stick together a little better.

Once the cheese is melted, I remove both open faced slices from the toaster over, place them together, and toast it one last time. This is just to make sure all my cheese is melted to perfection and because I’m toasting it rather than frying it, the apple slices stay nice and crisp!

Have you ever tried a grilled cheese with apples instead of tomatoes? It’s really quite delicious.
