I get a ton of questions about my hair …mostly, what products do I use on it? And in the past I’ve done a few posts on my hair care routines and different or fallen in love with and switched to but I thought I’d get a bit more in depth with exactly how I use all the different shampoos and conditioners that take up space in my shower.
However, I mix according to the look I’m going for.
* On a normal day, I try to keep my blonde intact by mixing Dove Color Repair with a bit of Dove Volume Boost {not shown} with a squeeze of Fekkai Color Care and a little bit of Shimmer Lights {purple shampoo} on top.
* If I don’t have time to actually do my hair, I opt for the “beachy look” and let my hair air dry. For this look, I mix the shampoos that dry my hair out the most: Organix Coconut Milk, a bit of Fekkai Color Care, and Shimmer Lights. These leave my hair more tangled and give it a “I just came back from the beach and have been driving in a Jeep Wrangler” feel.
* On the days I know I won’t need to be styling my hair, I give it a break and try to replenish it by using Mane ‘n Tail & body, Dove Moisturizing Care, and Dove Revival …which tend to weigh my hair down a bit more, not style or hold a curl as well and cause it to get greasy more quickly.
* As for conditioners, I use the corresponding “mix” to match the shampoo-poo platter I’ve created: Color shampoos get color conditioner mixes and so on and so forth. Also, I wash my hair first in the shower, rinse, then condition and allow the conditioner to stay on my hair throughout the remainder of my shower. I also try to only wash my hair 3 days a week.
* Notes: I’ve used other Purple/Blonde-enhancing shampoos like Schwarzkopf Bonacure Color Save Silver but prefer CLAIROL Shimmer Lights to all of them. HOWEVER, Shimmer Lights is VERY drying so I never use it alone, I always mix it with others and don’t find the need for a purple conditioner at the moment. I like Mane ‘n Tail conditioner as well but have run out at the moment. Sometimes the Fekkai weighs my hair down a little. And I am still surprised daily at how much I adore Dove Shampoos and Conditioners.
* Also note: I don’t use any other products on my hair on the regular other than a little hair spray to finish a styled look or up-do.
