I saw this house listed for sale last summer and fell in love with it… of course it wasn’t blue then, and it looked more like it was about to collapse, but I still loved it.
It was only $350k at the time but needed a complete face lift, major work, and a new roof. I wasn’t in the position at the time to buy it or I would have. The location is really great EXCEPT that it’s kind of located along the main highway, but it sits on the street below it, one street away from the lake.
Technically it’s probably the same distance from the lake as my house is now, however I have so many trees in the way and am at an angle to the bay I’m closest to, and have no lake view. However, I LOVE my location and love looking out all my windows and seeing only trees… it’s beautiful and amazing and makes me smile.
But now that I own a bar in Blue Jay, this house is a bit closer. I can walk to the village from where I am now, but not to Blue Jay. This house sits in between the Village and Blue Jay. Still, I’m only about 7 minutes away from Blue Jay, which is seriously close AF, but up on the mountain, if it’s more than 2 minutes away, it feels far.
Because of the location of this house and the original list price, I knew it would be snatched up and flipped, and it was. I do like a lot of the work done (the original was like ORIGINAL and crappy, if you know what I mean – it needed more than TLC) so the additions are beautiful. I may not have painted the exterior this electric blue color (which admittedly looks nice at night but when I drive by in the daytime, it’s a bit much) AND I wouldn’t have painted the stone on the fireplace, but everything else is pretty great and makes it easy to move right in.
Though the layout is completely different, it’s similar in size and square footage to the house I’m in now, which I sometimes think I don’t need, though since I work from home, it’s nice having the space and the places to shoot. However, I wish I would have bought it for $350 because now it’s more than I’d want to spend for what it is and in that location, if that makes sense. It’s not as private as my house, doesn’t have nearly as much land, but it does have a fenced yard in the back and a nice deck.
I’m still in limbo with my house. I honestly don’t know what to do and it’s such a stress in my life right now I wish I had the answer. My ex wants to either be bought out for a certain price by March 1st or I have to list it for sale… and all my money is still tied up in Dogwood Tavern right now and we’re trying to open by March 1st as well… like we’re that close. Everything feels like it’s piling on top of my head and honestly I don’t even want to begin thinking about having to sell my house right now especially. I don’t have the time and I don’t want to have to show it once it’s listed, it’s all too stressful at the moment. I know, it’s good stress, but still, it’s bringing me to tears on a daily basis, so I just have to surrender to it and know it’s going to work out exactly the way it’s supposed to and just let go.
