When Anna’s dress walked the runway on Thursday night’s The Fashion Show {which I love, btw} my jaw dropped! I think I said aloud I WOULD TOTALLY WEAR THAT DRESS!
What’s awesome about The Fashion Show is that the winning look each week is for sale on BravoTV.com. Well, when I went to check it out this afternoon I was so sad to see that the recreation of this dress is a dress I would not wear.
What happened? I understand that her fabric choice may have been too pricey for mass-production or maybe even not available …but this was the only other alternative? Where’s the cute waist …and shorter torso? Where are the cute florals? I feel like the recreation has just lost all the whimsy that was Anna’s original design.
What do you guys think? Do you like the version that’s for sale? Would you have bought the original if you could?
Chelsea
I feel the same way. I loved the dress she actually made, and now seeing the remade “sellable” version, it lost that something special. 🙁
have a great 4th!

oh gosh, the for sale version is totally not as cute. The part that really struck me about the original was the waist. The for sale version just looks messy. And I love the color choices of the original (tres sophisticated) and the other looks just eh.

I totally agree with you. Love love love the first one more than anything, and the second one just doesn’t compare. Disappointing!
Iva
nope. there was so much allure behind the original. the one for sale just doesn’t do it as well. blah.
<3!!

what the hell? I loved the original…the one for sale isn’t even remotely the same-construction is way off, pattern wtfff…I’m annoyed.
I hope someone makes a TRUE version of the original! YOU would rock it like no other. 🙂

The one for sale looks more like a clown outfit. I totally agree that the waist band really made the original as well as the fabric.
Stethoscopes and Stilettos
hideous….it looks so cheap/tween with the polka-dot pattern. And how hard would it have been to put the wide band at the waist??? One more simple piece of fabric could have made a big difference.
It probably would have been cuter even as a solid, rather than that horrible polka-dot.
I would have definitely bought the original, but never the recreation.

As soon as I saw the photo, I thought, I liked the original much better.

UGgg I LOVE the original but the remake looks cheap!! Eww and the colors?

wow that really makes a woman’s waist look slim. nice find,
oh and happy firework day.

I think the dress on the runway doesn’t actually have a shorter waist. It’s just been shortened visually with a belt in a contrasting color. I agree though, the repro isn’t nearly as cute.
Bella
Just buy a sash to put over it the waist.

I adore both of them… the dress is stunning 🙂
OceanDreams
The original one just doesn’t compare with the second. Bummer…maybe if they don’t get any sales they will bring the original back? It’s gorgeous!
Nil
The original dress is obviously more beautiful in fact the other one is not beautiful at all

Felt the same exact way. LOVED it on the show, not so saucy now. Blech.

Def. wouldn’t buy the recreation after seeing the gorgeous original.

I definitely like the original better but I think the reproduction could work too, paired with an aubergine belt and shoes, I think it would be fun!
diane
I’m not so picky, I would wear that one. It’s still cute and flattering.
Couture Carrie
So cute!

I liked the original but the reproduction is awful!
Fashion&Such
The 2nd one is horrible. & I can’t believe I’m saying that since the original is gorgeous. That really sucks…
That’s why i hate mass produced things.

I love the original. Completely agree – the one for sale is not at all nice.

The original is way cuter, but i know you could make the one that is for sale even cuter than the original!!!!

I have to admit, I’m not a huge fan of either dress, but I like the original better. The bust and collar are WAY better.
bananas.
uhhh why haven’t i heard of this show?! hmm…yes most definitely loving the original. what the frick happened to the one for sale??? it’s like a cheap icky version. not a fan of that. that happened on project runway too when someone won and got to sell their adorable dress for bitten, the SJP brand, but the one for sale was beyond HIDEOUS!
bananas.

Meh. I wish I could afford the original. The duplicate just doesn’t do it for me. Must be the ruffles..

this is funny bc when I first saw the dress I did not love it. I thought it was clever and cute but I preferred Rico’s suit to Anna’s dress…even so, I thought it might look ridiculous on me, I thought it would definitely look sweet and whimsical on another girl who wasn’t me…so I headed over to the Bravo site bc I was curious and saw what they were offering and made my “ick” face. I think one of the reasons why I even liked the dress to begin with, albeit on someone else, was precisely bc of the colors and the fabric that she chose. the new one is not cute…at all. and I agree that they took away that beautiful little waist. boo.

I have not been happy with many of the pieces they have recreated. I LOVED her “vagina” dress lol, but this….not so much.
Katie
My jaw dropped at this dress on TV; it was flawless.
What really bugs me is the fact that her original fabric was her major inspiration for the dress in the first place! Now they’ve just kind of butchered the whole idea of it 🙁

Boo. Lame.

Love the original, hate the other dress!

i loved the original too – so awesome. the one for sale – not so much.
