Kendall Jenner is EVERYWHERE right now and I can’t say that I mind. She’s young, wide-eyed and fresh-faced, and happy and ready for all that life offers… and so far, life has been pretty good to her {and her family} and as of late, she’s been the IT model for numerous campaigns worldwide. Apparently Kendall is obsessed with serving flawless face on the red carpet. Hey, if we were lucky enough to get our hair and makeup done “probably every other day,” we’d want to be impeccable too. But, she says, her perfectionism can drive her pros a little crazy.
“I used to be like, ‘Do whatever you want, I don’t care.’ But recently I’ve gotten into it,” the 19-year-old face of Estée Lauder’s Modern Muse Le Rouge scent tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I’m a perfectionist. If someone is doing my eyeliner, it has to be exactly the same on both sides, super-straight. If there’s a tiny little bump, it has to be fixed. Our family makeup artists are scared of me sometimes!” So — no shocker — Jenner knew just what she wanted when Estée Lauder Global Makeup Artist Victor Henao gave her an “elegant, lived-in” look for the Fragrance Foundation Awards on June 17. Here’s how to get it!
“Kendall came in with a vision,” Henao says. “I love when models do that, because in general they do different looks all the time. They come in and they’re kind of like, ‘Who do I want to be tonight? Who is Kendall tonight?’ They want to be their true self for one night … [Kendall] will tell me what she wants and then we kind of go from there as it’s growing and coming to life.” And despite her self-proclaimed perfectionism, she knows when to leave things to the pros. In fact, she steers clear of even trying to recreate their work. “I can’t do [my makeup] myself,” she says. “That’s why I don’t wear makeup on an everyday basis, just mascara.” (And now, we’re guessing, her new signature lipstick shade!)
Henao focused on “flawless skin, as always,” spending “a half an hour, 45 minutes doing foundation alone.” Then he contoured with the New Dimension Shape + Sculpt Face Kit on top. “As we were working with the eye she wanted like a ‘no-eye’ eye. Like an ‘I woke up like this’ sort of eye,” he continues. He calls it a “super blown out smoky brown eye,” which he achieved with the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow 5-Color Palette in Defiant Nude, plus “lots of lashes” and the Sumptuous Infinite Mascara in Black. A nude lip let the eyes shine. Hers was the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Insatiable Ivory.
