What I’m Wearing
* Thrifted denim button down. Never say never …I never thought I’d be wearing a denim shirt again. Ever. Period. They were sort of a staple {next to the plaid flannels} in the early 90’s over bodysuits w/ ripped men’s Levis {long or cut off} and worker boots. I remember my mom continuing to hold onto the denim shirt, sleeveless and all -for years {I bet you she still has them in her closet!} …and then they became the staple for every conservative business, it seemed, with the logo on the pocket. And now? Quite possibly chic again. Never say never 😉
* Forever 21 black leggings
* Erin Leigh Heart brown oversized cardigan …also seen here with wedges.
* Via Spiga brown lace-up wedge booties
* Tom Ford Anouk cat-eye sunglasses
* Salvatore Ferragamo Bag
* Light accessories …white gold hoops and Tiffany’s silver lock pendant necklace

My new bike obsession is doing exactly the thing I hate about exercising; bulking me up! I have an exorbitant amount of muscle mass in my body and as soon as I lift a weight or push a pedal, I feel like a body builder. Yes, a bit dramatic, but nonetheless, true. Because of this mad bulkage, I usually stop doing whatever exercise I was doing to cause it, but not this time. I love riding my bike and I’m hoping if I continue it, the bulkiness will pass and leave me with hopefully leaner, toned body. I am 33 and while I was a very actively athletic kid, I haven’t done shit for my body in many many years. And if I don’t start now, it’s only gonna get worse, right? And, it’s healthy: mind, body, spirit. {okay, it’s also possible I’ve been putting more things in my mouth than necessary} I cannot lie.

    2 things:

    1. love the demin + brown + black

    2. think of the bike riding this way: it will counteract any overindulging and make it not count 😉

    I totally agree…am quite surprised at the denim resurgence but do love it nonetheless. You are rocking it with the brown!!

    OMG! I love it! I loved your denim shirt dress the other day too on you and I totally love that your paired these colors together! I was literally reading the other day , tim gunn advising that the only time brown and black looked good together was if the brown was never on the feet…and only ok if they were a rich chocolate brown knee high boot…and I was thought….hmmmm can’t say I can agree that, being the ONLY time its ok….and TAH DAH! Maegan Proof right here 😉

    also ps…I’ve been wanting to say this, but have been avoiding it because I don’t want to make you worry {because I know you said you are usually always around the exact same weight…} BUT since you mentioned it… I dont think you are “bulking” up at all, I’ve actually been thinking that you look so lean!!! I love your leg muscles! I think its amazing and the fact that it comes so naturally for you is to die for!! super awesome outfit and post Maegan! hope you have a great day!

    oh and yeah…never say never 😉

    If it helps, not only do you not look bulky but most women bulk up first (though probably not as fast as you think you do) and then lose the fat underneath the muscle. So we all bulk up and then slim down with prolonged exercise! Keep on biking! I’m terrified to do it in Chicago traffic, but sunny biking days in Cali sound amazing!

    Girl I am the same way when I start working out. I’ve been attending kickboxing classes 4-6 times a week for a year now and my legs are still big but are in much better shape. The muscle definition is crazy in my thighs. So much so that I don’t mind being thick so much anymore. Keep up the biking. The benefits of a healthy lifestyle far out weigh the bulk for a few months. 🙂 XOXO

    Oversized flannel or denim shirts, (chambray, anyone?), bodysuits, huge jeans (worn over boxers, remember?), worker boots, yes yes yes. God, I loved that look. That and worker boots with a pretty little dress. I am so tragic, haha! (And 37.) Yay 90s!

    Better to be toned and healthy….keep up the bike riding…… is much better than stressing the knee joints while jogging and running. In the long run, you are doing the right thing. Loved your interview. Stay safe and healthy.
