I used black because it was what I had …it’s also quite possible everyone has an LBD to wear with it. However, since it’s spring, a lighter, softer hue would be nice …and as stated above, a soft mesh/tulle would be gorgeous and a sheer chiffon would be ballerina-esque, but you’d have to hem the edges. I like to keep it easy for DIYs but if you’re a pro, you could easily close the back seam.

Have Fun!

WOW Megan! This is really great! I wish I had and could use a sewing maschine…. 🙂

Super fun! I love that you didn’t close the back, actually, it gives a little more interest to the piece!

I did the old t-shirt fringe necklace DIY last night. I was about to get rid of some clothes and figured, “Why not DIY some of these?” I have no clue what to wear it with (mine’s black)- any suggestions? LOVE the lace. I think I’ll try tulle with the new pink and purple dress I have!

ps and you rock it very well!

ANON: yes …the garden hose shot makes me giggle.. .. it’s soooo long!
AnnaN: the necklace isn’t a necklace at all actually, it’s vintage rosary beads that technically, as far as Catholics are concerned, is sacreligious to wear as a necklace …but since I’m not a practicing Catholic any longer, I don’t care 🙂 You can find one at any religious shop or online -google “rosary beads”

Dear Maegan, thank you so much! As far as the main religion in my country is not catholic, I didn’t know. I had a similar one from Cyprus, but it was from the souvenere shop, so it’s almost worn out 🙁
Thanks again and have a great day!
You are my inspiration, my muse, my goddess 🙂

I would love this in a light, springy colour. Maybe a pretty peach or lovely lilac? Definitely one to try! 🙂

This looks good. I think it’d work well if it had a section almost “missing” from the front and worn over a black dress to fit in with the rise and fall hem trend I’m loving at the moment.

I LOVE IT!!! and its funny, you say maybe try making it in a light huge because I’m really trying to lighten my wardrobe a bit…because I wear so much black its even starting to drive me nuts a little…I’m so repetitive with my outfits lately! bleh! and this is a super DIY I totally love it! I really like this lace you have ! its a really nice pattern. Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn’s dress and mask!!! LOVE IT!
and ps your comment above …I wear rosary beads too as necklaces 😉

This is a fantastic tutorial and I love the outcome. My Mum did something similar for me at Halloween for a vampire outfit, and it’s great what you can with a few materials and some pennies! xxx
