I spotted this fun swingy skirt from the Christian Dior Fall 2015 RTW backstage at Vogue.com which was strikingly similar to my DIY Cheerleader Skirt from a tube skirt ~ of which I had been inspired by a flare dress I randomly spied in a Lord & Taylor ad that popped up on my Facebook feed {which ultimately proves that FB advertising does indeed work, blerg}.

HOWEVER, I love this fun detail that can really go sweet or sexy and long or short, and it’s a super simple DIY when using jersey knit or stretch knit. It’s a fun look for summer worn over a bathing suit as a coverup rather than layered over another skirt.
If you have sewing skills and/or a serger, you can do this to pencil skirt made from wool, tweed, etc. and hem the edges properly, creating a similar look to the Dior skirt.

Get inspired by the Dior 2015 version {photos via Style.com} for next fall.
