DIY Vinyl Wall Art for your Shower or Bath {fun for kids too!}

DIY Vinyl Wall Art for your Shower of Bath {Fun for Kids Too}

Years ago, after we watched “What the Bleep {do we know?}” for the first time, we were instantly taken by Water Crystals and Dr. Masaru Emoto‘s studies on how our thoughts and feelings affect our reality, and specifically, how they affect water. And since “WE” are made up of mostly water, that our thoughts and feeling must be affecting us in the same ways.

“He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors.”

Soon after, we began writing positive words on all of our water bottles which not only forced me to focus on the positive when writing on the bottles, but to think about the word on our bottles every time we drank one. Not the most environmentally friendly option, but all we had at the time. Then a friend returned from Japan with a pack of Water Blessing Labels for us, which I stuck all over my shower walls and loved seeing every time I was under water. But somehow in our move, I lost them all. And then I searched frantically online for more and couldn’t find them {until this very second} but it prompted me to figure out a way to do it myself, which then leads to other fun activities including kids and bath time, etc.

Here’s What You’ll Need…

* A clear vinyl shower curtain. I found mine on Amazon for $8 but I’m sure you can find one cheaper at a local Target, etc. NOTE: I tried various plastics for this project and found that the vinyl shower curtain was the best option for staying power. If you’re just using them for play-time with the kiddos, the clear plastic binder inserts will work just fine. They stay up as long as they’re wet, but fall once all has dried.
* Scissors
* Sharpie markers in any colors you’d like

Here’s How I Did It…

* Cut out your shapes.

* Look for areas that are flat. They adhere the best. But you can simply warm up the plastic with a hair dryer and set a book on top to flatten them out. They will stick, but may fall a few times once they dry first. Just keep putting them back and eventually, they’ll stay. I really haven’t had this issue, just a precautionary tale. Some of my edges curl up though on the bubblier pieces.

* Draw or create your inspirational words of choice with a Sharpie or other permanent marker. Use any colors you like! {though I’ve noticed that the lighter colored sharpies bleed a little. best bet is black, the bigger the better}
