winter snow trees

The weather forecast has been telling us it’s going to snow for weeks now, and finally yesterday morning, IT DID! It’s so beautiful when it snows. I know people who have grown up with white winters are used to it, but it’s still so magical to me and I hope it remains so forever. This is our second winter here, in fact, December 5th marked the one year anniversary that we moved into our home. Last year, it snowed the week after we moved in and we just stared out the windows smiling until it melted.

Nearly every day during winter, when I emerge from my slumber, the first thing I do is open the curtains and look out the windows to see if there is a white glittering layer over everything, and on this morning, I squealed when I saw it.

bird decals

This is the stairwell that leads down to the garage… and right now it’s my favorite spot in the house. I have a few faves, but this one is near completion, and that’s exciting! It’s been a work in progress, just like the rest of the house, but decorating small nooks and spaces that don’t really need to be decorated, is so fun to me! I put up the flying birds decals from What is Blik a few weeks ago, but the new pendant lamp was just hung this weekend, and I’m in love. The space is not quite finished yet, but when it is, I’ll do a before and after post -because FUN!

buying a christmas tree

We walked to the village the other day to pick out our tree, knowing that we were going to get it flocked and couldn’t carry it home anyway. It. Was. FREEZING though! So this, along with this outfit, which is very similar, is another easy go-to that I throw on to walk and usually includes: jeans or skinny cords {with a layer beneath if it’s ridiculous cold}, a cozy sweater layered over about ten other tanks and thermals, a pair of Crocs {the only shoes I can walk in without my ankle hurting – and their boots are all ridiculous cute}, any random scarf that matches, and this Anne Klein puffer jacket from last year. This is a new beanie though {aka: slouchy knit hat, by Bob Basics}, and I love it. I got it in navy too, but I like this color better, and I splurged and spent far too much, but it’s worth it because even over my wet hair here, it was not only flattering, but warm.

loafers and jeans tartan maxi dress flowers on boots

My flat obsession even surprises me. This was from last week’s outfit: Camel Coat with Navy + Gray + Burgundy Loafers

And this was DIY #1 of my 30 Days of DIY : Floral Ribbons for your Boots {that would also work as a belt, necklace, or even Christmas decor or pretty garland around the tree!}

winter style

Last week’s outfit has become a favorite for so many reasons. Find the details here: Winter White with Classics and leave a comment to be entered to win a giftcard for a fabulous new pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. They’re seriously fab! #ShareTheWOW

clouds over the lake-sunset

This was actually on our walk back home from getting our tree last week. The clouds were rolling in over the lake at dusk and it was really really gorgeous. I am grateful for being able to live in this beautiful place every day. We thought it would snow that night, but no suck luck. We had to wait for the weekend for that.

I’ve spent most of this snowy weekend decorating for Christmas as well as DIYing a few ornaments which I’ll be sharing in the coming days. One later today, for my #7 DIY in my 30 Days of DIY.

Happy Weekend Lovecats!

* Hope you’re having a lovely one.
