Above is a small original painting by Kathie Olivas the husband bought and gave to me for one of our anniversaries… and -if I were a good wife, I’d remember the exact anniversary, right? I know it was way back when we were in the condo, so it was definitely early on and I remember when we moved into our first rental house, almost tossing some brown packing paper and FINDING the small oval canvas just before it was lost forever in the garbage. I would have been devastated. I love this little guy.
For some reason I was inclined to look her up again and browse through her recent works and thought I’d share some of my faves. I love that her works have a bit of Keane in them and a bit of Ryden as well. I love that they’re kind of dark and sad but somehow sweet, innocent, and cute as well.
