Of course you can imagine that I love this look. I love all looks …and I’ll try anything. It’s fun to play around with styles and this happens to be quite an easy one to achieve. I’ve found it works best on hair with a bit of texture {a.k.a. one day dirty hair}. But if you have the kind of hair that needs to be washed daily, it will be just as easy.

Some use waxy products to achieve texture, but I like a mixture of water {in a spray bottle} and Hair Spray because waxes and pomades tend to weigh my hair down. But really, you should use whatever works best on your hair to achieve the desired look. Also, this look is supposed to be a bit messy so work with your hair, not against it …you don’t want it to look too “done” or “perfect” …and you can do this on short hair as well as long.

Steps: Mist hair with water {dampen only}, Section off about an inch of hair for Vanessa’s look or about 1/2″ for Jenny’s look, Twist section of hair from top to bottom, use a flat iron {clamp iron from top to bottom holding a couple seconds at each section} to “set” twist {you may need to back-comb or tease it a bit then flat iron again}, Hair spray and move onto the next. There is a cute little video here that’s a bit more complex and time consuming for me but it includes more tips if you need them. Have fun!
