I have about 4 boxes of old Christmas ornaments that belonged to my parents in the 70’s… and actually may have even been purchased earlier than the 70’s(?) Many of them are silver and teal but are sort of tarnished and spotted and I normally don’t use them because I find them big & boring. So I thought why not add some sparkle with my Martha Stewart glitter glues? They’re easy, mess-free, and fun! I suppose you could also create a similar effect with glue and fine loose glitter as well. My favorite is the teal polka-dotted one with hematite glitter, but I’m really loving the antique feel it adds to my boring vintage balls.
Here’s What You’ll Need…

* Vintage or old Christmas ornaments. ***Plastic ornaments or those that are too glossy will not work as well unless treated first to create a texture the glue can adhere to.
* Martha Stewart Glitter Glue
Steps…

* Test out your glitter glue.

* Create your design.
TIPS:
* My very fine dots, which I LOVED, didn’t stay put on the super glossy, newer ornaments.
* I made one with Delilah’s name using a plastic ornament and the thin lines of glitter glue just slipped right off.
* I think a thicker coat of glue would help but really, the balls need a sort of texture for the glue to adhere to. Maybe a bit of sandpaper or using a light coat of acetone would do the trick? I dunno… check that out before you try it!
* The white glitter glue looked like snow, which was fun.
Here are my mistakes… which were kind of a bummer really because I loved these two!

I made so many of them but the ones I’ve shown are my favorites.
And… Voila!

Have Fun!
