There’s a point when you want something so badly that you have to just let it go, set it free, and move on. There’s a level of desire that forges even stronger for the things we can’t have, where it consumes us, and then we know for sure, it’s time to accept it, breathe through it, and allow the energy to dissipate.
And then there’s that thing that happens as soon as you decide to give it up, whatever it is… winds change, and nudge you to think there may still be hope, but that hope just forces you right back into the pattern of wanting that thing that you can’t seem to grasp.
But sometimes hope is all we have… sometimes hope keeps us moving forward… sometimes hope distracts us from what’s really haunting us in our lives, because the pain of the reality is far too dark to dive into… and so we keep the hope alive as a temporary bandaid until we heal and don’t need it any longer. Sometimes it’s all we need… and sometimes, if we’re patient, we actually do get exactly what we want.
