When it’s Summer Solstice and you live on a lake, you have no excuse but to go watch the sunset on said lake… but when there also happens to be fires blazing around SoCal, creating some of the most intensely vibrant colors in the sky, you simply cannot miss it. I, for one, am terrified of fires. It’s actually the one thing {besides bears} that freaks me out most about living up here, but sometimes so much beauty comes from disaster, and you just can’t help but appreciate it. And so… that’s what we did.
I feel like I’ve been waiting and anticipating summer this year like no other, and it’s finally here. And though we’re just a few days in, I’m already grateful for each warm night that I don’t have to pull on pants and a grab a sweater… yes, it’s as simple as being able to wear fewer clothes. But there’s just something about summer for me that I can’t quite put my finger on… it’s calm and still and warm and fun and sexy and satisfying and it’s here and I’m happy… and I’m going to enjoy every single moment of it.
And then it went from hot red-orange-yellow to deep and warm peachy plums….
And then when night fell, it turned blue and purple…
