We Are Art ~ The New Art.com

Among all the things I wanted to be when I was a child, artist was high on my list… next to ballerina, veterinarian, and fashion &/or interior designer, of course. As I grew up and tried my hand at many things, art and expressing myself through art was still a huge part of who I was.

While working in a retail clothing shop in the late 90’s, the owner turned to me, handed me a book and said learn how to code HTML so you can create a website for us. I said okay, and did just that. Through web designing, also came graphic design and I was excited at the thought of an artistic career in a new medium that might actually be lucrative. In 2001 I began working for an art dealer and was immersed in modern & contemporary art on a daily basis. I was lucky to be in an artistic & creative field, surrounded by amazing artists like Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Wayne Thiebaud, and Roy Lichtenstein, to name a few. To watch hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of original art work pass through the gallery doors day in and day out was an experience like no other. To glimpse the impenetrable art world from the other side of it was amazing to say the least, and a world I may have never known otherwise.

In those years, and thanks to my very generous boss, I was able to build a little art collection of my own & through it, gain an appreciation for fine art as well. Last December, over ten years later, I left to finally focus on my own budding artistic career in another new media, blogging… but also through writing and photography and now, just 7 months later, I miss seeing the art every day. It was larger than life in a way and each piece held it’s own mysterious story.

In recent months, Art.com reached out to me to collaborate and I was excited at the opportunity to become a part of a new kind of art world and immediately agreed to partner up.

Art.com just launched their new site and wow is it gorgeous. It’s so much more user-friendly and really fun to look through now. It’s filled with original content, design inspiration, and curated collections to help you get a visual feel for what will look great in your own space. Beyond the huge selection of gorgeous art available in various print sizes, limited editions, photographic prints, and/or giclee’s {digital prints on canvas} they have really great looking frame options as well. With their affordable pricing, Art.com allows everyone to build an art collection of their own.

The Costume & Fashion section is one of my favorite galleries to browse though for fantastic vintage photographs and magazine prints & covers. They are just so perfect for any woman’s office space and again, come with a handful of different frame options to match your decor so you don’t have to do it yourself. Check out the We Are Art short video for more inspiring ideas.

Whether you know exactly what you’re looking for or need a little bit of inspiration, the new Art.com offers pretty content, pleasing layout, and tools to help you find the perfect work of art to suit your needs. Art has the power to be more than just something pretty hanging on your wall, it can change a mood, spark a conversation and be a focal point for your entire space.

You+Art is a personalized space that allows you to collect and share the works of art you love. You can create a mood gallery for rooms and styles and see the works hanging in spaces before you buy. You can even create your own photos into art.

I’m so excited to be a part of the new Art.com and to be surrounded by art in an entirely new way. My first print is on its way to me now and I can’t wait to get it. I chose a Warhol print actually… Can you guess which one I opted for? {it’s not this one or this one but those are next on my list!}
